This September, Bath steps back two hundred years — and so do we. For all ten days of the Jane Austen Festival, The Sepoy Club on Broad Street is serving A Taste of the Regency Era: a three-course menu celebrating the flavours that first connected Britain and India in Austen's lifetime.

Curry is more Regency than you might think. The first curry recipe in an English cookbook was printed in 1747, and by 1810 — while Austen was writing — Britain's first Indian restaurant had opened its doors in London. Austen herself lived in Bath from 1801 to 1806, a short walk from our door.

THE THREE-COURSE FESTIVAL MENU

Starters — Punjabi Samosa · Mini Chicken Tikka

Mains — Langri Chicken Curry (our signature) · Butter Chicken · Paneer Tikka Masala · Chana Masala — all served with Pilau Rice & Garlic Naan

Desserts — Rose & Cardamom Kulfi · Gulab Jamun

£35 per guest, with a complimentary Rose Lemonade or Elderflower Spritz on arrival. Vegetarian and vegan choices in every course — please tell us about any allergies.

THE REGENCY PUNCH

No Regency evening ended without punch. Ours is mixed to a Georgian recipe — dark rum, lime, black tea and fresh nutmeg — and it's on the bar throughout the festival. Arrive in full Regency dress and your first punch is on us.
